HappyParent HQ ("we", "our", "us") operates the website at happyparenthq.com and the HappyParent HQ application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.
1. Information We Collect
When you use HappyParent HQ, we may collect:
- Account information: Your name and email address when you sign in with Google.
- Email data: With your explicit permission, we access your Gmail inbox (read-only) to identify school-related emails. We only read email metadata and content necessary to extract school action items. We do not read, store, or process emails unrelated to school communications.
- Forwarded emails: If you use our email forwarding option, we process emails you forward to digest@happyparenthq.com.
- Usage data: Basic analytics about how you interact with the application.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To identify and extract school-related action items from your emails.
- To generate and deliver your personalized daily digest.
- To improve and maintain the service.
- To communicate with you about your account or the service.
3. Gmail Data Usage
Our use of information received from Gmail APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:
- We only request the
gmail.readonly scope — we cannot modify, send, or delete your emails.
- We do not use your email data for advertising purposes.
- We do not sell your email data to third parties.
- We do not allow humans to read your email content unless required for security purposes, to comply with law, or with your explicit consent.
- AI processing of your email content is performed solely to extract school-related action items and is not used to train general-purpose AI models.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on Google Cloud Platform with encryption at rest and in transit. We use least-privilege access controls and regularly review our security posture. OAuth refresh tokens are stored encrypted. We do not store raw email content longer than necessary for processing.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share data only:
- With AI service providers (Google Vertex AI, Anthropic, OpenAI) for the sole purpose of extracting school action items, subject to their data processing agreements.
- With co-parents you explicitly invite to share a digest.
- When required by law or to protect our legal rights.
6. Your Rights
- Revoke access: You can disconnect your Gmail at any time from your account settings or from your Google Account permissions.
- Delete your data: You can request deletion of all your data by contacting us. We will complete deletion within 30 days.
- Export your data: You can request a copy of your data at any time.
7. Children's Privacy
HappyParent HQ is designed for use by parents and guardians. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The service processes school communications directed at parents, not at children.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or through the application.
