Is It Safe to Connect Your Email? How We Protect Your Family's Data

Let's name the obvious hesitation: handing an app access to your email feels like a big deal. It should. Your inbox is personal. So before you connect anything, here is a plain-language look at exactly what HappyParent HQ can and can't do—and the guardrails that make it safe.

We can read, but we can't touch

When you connect Gmail, we request a single, specific permission: Google's read-only scope. That is a hard technical boundary, not a promise. We literally cannot send, reply to, change, archive, or delete anything in your inbox. We read; that is it.

And you never hand us a password. You sign in through Google itself, and Google gives us a limited, revocable token. We never see, store, or have access to your password, and you can disconnect HappyParent HQ from your Google account at any time in two clicks.

We're only looking for school stuff

HappyParent HQ isn't rummaging through your whole inbox. It is tuned specifically to find school, sports, and activity emails—permission slips, picture day notices, practice schedules, RSVPs, and payment reminders—and pull out the dates and to-dos. Your work threads, bank statements, and personal messages are not what we are here for, and they are never processed or surfaced.

Automated processing—not human eyes

Data extraction is fully automated, working only to pull out dates, deadlines, and action items from school and activity updates. Two critical privacy rules apply:

• No human reads your email. The only exceptions are the rare standard scenarios every responsible service maintains: a genuine security investigation, a legal requirement, or your explicit request for account troubleshooting.
• Your data is never used to train general AI models. Your information is used strictly to build your household briefing and nothing else.

Encrypted, and never for sale

Your data lives on secure cloud infrastructure, encrypted both in transit and at rest (AES-256). The access tokens we hold are stored in encrypted format as well, and we do not retain raw email content longer than necessary to build your daily schedule.

Our business model is straightforward: we do not sell your data, share email content, or monetize advertising. You pay for the subscription, which means you are the customer—not the product being sold.

You stay in control

• Disconnect anytime—directly within HappyParent HQ or straight from your Google account permissions.
• Export your data whenever you choose.
• Delete your account at any time, and your data is permanently removed from our systems within 30 days.
